Terms of Service
Last updated September 30, 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using Time and a Half (the "Platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service, the Community Guidelines, and the Privacy Policy, which are part of these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Platform.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By creating one, you confirm that what you provide, including your work history, trade, and employment claims, is truthful and accurate to the best of your knowledge.
3. Accounts
- You are responsible for the security of your account and for everything done under it.
- One account per person. Creating more to evade enforcement, manipulate reviews, vouches, or answers, or otherwise get around these Terms is grounds for terminating every account involved.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or the Guidelines, with or without notice depending on severity.
4. What Time and a Half is, and is not
- Time and a Half is independently owned and operated. It is not owned, run, or controlled by any employer, contractor, union, local, hiring hall, or other labor organization, and none of them sponsors or endorses it. Names of companies, unions, and locals appear only to identify them.
- Companies can be customers; they are never in control. A verified company may claim its page and post job listings, including paid ones. That gives it no ability to edit, remove, or hide what workers write, and no access to who wrote it.
- It is not a labor organization or a bargaining representative, does not represent any worker or group of workers, and does not negotiate with employers on anyone's behalf.
- It is not an employer or a staffing agency, and is not a party to any employment relationship that comes from connections made here. Nobody posting a worker lead can hire you.
- It is neutral on unionization. Your union status, and your views for or against organizing, never affect how your content is ranked, moderated, or shown.
5. User content
- You keep ownership of what you post: reviews, answers, posts, leads, and work history.
- By posting, you give Time and a Half a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and reproduce that content on and in connection with the Platform, including for automated screening.
- You are responsible for what you post, and confirm you have the right to post it and that it does not break any law or anyone else's rights.
- Vouches and answers specifically: by giving one, you confirm it reflects your own firsthand experience, given in good faith and not as part of any coordinated effort.
6. The Platform itself
- The Platform (its software, design, text, and the names "Time and a Half", "Shift Change", "Laydown Yard", "The Board" and "Muster Point") belongs to Time and a Half. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of it to you.
- The directory as a whole is separate from the entries in it. You own what you contribute. The assembled set of companies, jobsites, workers, work histories, and vouches, and the way it is selected and arranged, belongs to Time and a Half.
- You get a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Platform for its purpose: finding work, recording your own work history, and reading what other members contribute. It does not include copying, republishing, selling, or licensing Platform content, or using it to build a competing product or database.
7. Automated access, scraping, and bulk collection
Without our written permission, you may not:
- Use any bot, crawler, scraper, headless browser, or other automated means to access or copy the Platform, except a general-purpose search engine crawler working within our robots.txt.
- Collect or store Platform content in bulk, by automated means or by hand, including compiling member profiles, work histories, vouches, company records, or job postings into a separate dataset.
- Use Platform content to train, evaluate, or build any machine-learning model, dataset, directory, or other product.
- Create or use an account mainly to get content for any of the above.
- Get around any sign-in requirement, rate limit, or other access restriction, including by using several accounts.
- Access the Platform in a way that puts an unreasonable load on it.
Why this matters. A person's work history here is a list of the employers and jobsites they have worked, next to their name. One card at a time, that is a credential somebody chose to build. In bulk, it is a file on a workforce, and the people it hurts first are the ones looking for work quietly while still employed.
8. Access that requires an account
- Member work history, credentials, and the identities of vouchers are available only to signed-in members.
- Who posted a worker lead is visible only to signed-in members. The job itself, and the evidence behind it, is open to everyone.
- A hall's member list is visible only to that hall's members.
- Getting at any of this without a valid session, or by any means designed to avoid the sign-in requirement, is unauthorized access under these Terms.
- We may change which parts of the Platform need an account at any time.
9. If you break Sections 6 to 8
We may terminate your account without notice, block your access by any technical means, and pursue any remedy available at law or in equity, including injunctive relief. Nothing here limits any right you have under law that cannot be waived by agreement.
10. Content about companies and people
- Content about companies reflects the opinions and experiences of individual members. Time and a Half does not independently verify individual posts and does not warrant their accuracy.
- Companies may not compel removal of accurate content that reflects genuine experience, but may report content they believe is false or breaks these Terms.
- How reviews, answers, and pay are summarized (for example the minimum number of responses before anything shows) may change to protect the integrity of the system and the anonymity of the people behind it.
11. Moderation
We use automated screening and human review to enforce these Terms and the Guidelines, and may remove content or suspend accounts on the basis of that review. Automated screening is not perfect; reporting what you see remains important.
12. Disclaimers
THE PLATFORM AND ALL CONTENT ON IT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. Time and a Half does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of member content, including reviews, vouches, answers, pay figures, or job listings. Decisions about employment based on content found here are made at your own risk.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Time and a Half and its officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenue, arising from your use of the Platform or reliance on its content.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Time and a Half from claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your content, or your breach of these Terms.
15. Disputes
Terms on governing law and how disputes are resolved are being finalized and will be published here. Until then, if you have a problem with the Platform, please tell us first through Feedback so we can try to fix it.
16. Content posted by members
Time and a Half is a platform for content posted by its members and, where applicable, relies on protections such as Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act for that content.
17. Requests for a member's identity
The anonymity of reviews and answers is a core commitment, and it only matters if it holds up under pressure.
- Time and a Half will not voluntarily disclose the identity of an anonymous reviewer, answerer, or voucher to any company, person, or other third party who asks, including in response to a demand letter, an informal request, or a threat of litigation.
- Identity will be disclosed only in response to valid legal process, such as a subpoena or court order, that we determine after legal review to be enforceable.
- Where the law allows, we will tell the affected member before complying, so they have a real chance to object. That notice may be delayed or withheld only where the law requires it.
- This does not limit our use of account information internally for moderation, fraud prevention, or safety.
18. Union and organizing information is never for sale
Time and a Half will never sell, license, or give an employer or anyone acting for one any information about a member's union membership or status, hall membership, or organizing-related activity or views, whether about one person or in aggregate. No paid feature, now or later, includes it. Paid features for companies never include information that identifies any individual member.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in advance where practicable, and continued use after they take effect means you accept them. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
20. Leaving
- You can step away from your account at any time from your card. That signs you out and stops notifications until you sign back in; what you have already posted, and vouches you have given, stay.
- Self-service account deletion is not available yet. To ask for your account to be deleted, contact us through Feedback and we will handle it.
- We may suspend or terminate access for breaking these Terms or the Guidelines. Sections on content licensing, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification survive termination.
